Press release —
The theme for Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race 2026 has been revealed!
After last year’s record-breaking participation, with more than 200 classes, Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is returning for a third year. And now this year’s theme is being launched, inviting primary school pupils across Sweden to explore water through technology, innovation and imagination.
This year’s theme for Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is: “Water – under, over, in and on.” What is water? The answer is broad and open to interpretation. Pupils can explore examples of innovation connected to water in many ways, looking at how people can live better with water or how technology can help protect and sustain our ecosystems.
How can we use water more intelligently, safely and sustainably in the future? That is the question at the heart of Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race this year. Following last year’s record-breaking participation, with more than 200 classes from middle schools across Sweden taking part in the innovation competition, creative thinking around innovation, technology and problem-solving continues to grow.
Water is literally all around and affects almost everything we do. We drink it, transport ourselves on it, produce energy with its help and depend on it for both people, animals and society to function. At the same time, the world is facing major water-related challenges, from droughts and water shortages to flooding, pollution and rising sea levels.
– Water is something all people have a relationship with, while at the same time it holds enormous potential and challenges. That makes it both important and exciting to work with this year. We hope this year’s competition will inspire pupils to think broadly, ask questions and dare to imagine how technology can help create real change in the future, says Johan Glennmo, Chairman of the Board at Sigma Group.
A Commitment to Nurturing Future Tech Talent
The Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is part of Sigma’s initiative to spark interest in technology among young people. With a concerning decline in technological engagement at the secondary school level, the goal is to inspire middle school students to explore technology and innovation from an early age. By allowing students to work creatively on real-world challenges, Sigma hopes to pave the way for the engineers and technical experts of the future.
