Press release -
Sweden's most digitized health center has been launched!
Sigma IT Consulting has, on behalf of Region Jämtland Härjedalen, developed virtual emergency rooms. Yesterday they were launched simultaneously in Funäsdalen, Sveg and Hede. This means that a patient now can be examined and diagnosed by a doctor who is at a completely different location. The emergency rooms will offer closer and better care for the inhabitants of the region.
Virtual emergency rooms have developed enormously over the past two years. With the help of technical equipment and nurses, physicians can remotely make a diagnosis in real time – and Region Jämtland Härjedalen is first out with the latest technology.
“We want to develop the primary care in Härjedalen and we have therefore worked on this concept for some time. It is great to now be able to offer our patients this opportunity." says Maria Carlund, responsible for primary care in Härjedalen
Sigma IT Consulting, together with Region Jämtland Härjedalen, has developed several prototypes for primary care in the last two years. These prototypes include, for example, virtual emergency rooms and remote examinations. The goal is for Region Jämtland Härjedalen to have Sweden's most digitized health center.
Virtual emergency rooms are rooms in the health center in which the patient meets with a nurse with digital equipment. The physician is connected remotely and can carry out the examination and make the diagnosis in real time through connected equipment and a nurse. This allows physicians to effectively operate across larger areas than those in which they are physically present.
“The health care sector is changing, and developing toward more health care at home and less in hospitals. The strategy is to move patients from closed care to primary care. It is about being able to provide qualitative care where needed, even if the physician is not physically present." says Bert-Ola Bångman, Sigma IT Consulting's Area Manager for Östersund.
Sigma IT Consulting and Microsoft have worked closely on this project and have supported Region Jämtland Härjedalen to take the lead in digital Swedish health care.
"Working with digital health care feels right in so many ways. We know we make care more accessible for patients outside the metropolitan areas, that knowledge can be shared all over the world and that diagnoses become more precise, all of which both saves suffering and provides healthier lives. We are really passionate about this important mission." concludes Bert-Ola Bångman at Sigma IT Consulting.
