Sigma brings a new life to Angyal István Park in Budapest
Within the framework of the Swedish Sustainability Program, Sigma Technology participates in the renovation and modernization of Angyal István Park, located in the 9th district of Budapest.
The main objective of the Swedish Sustainability Program is to promote an environmentally conscious lifestyle and thinking, and to create a sustainable urban environment. The Program has been running for four years now. In recent years, several reconstruction projects have been accomplished, including building the first Budapest eco-playground, renewing a public park on the Buda side, and establishing a bicycle service station, info centre, and meeting point in Vérmező Park.
This year several Swedish companies operating in Hungary, the Embassy of Sweden, Business Sweden, and the Municipality of Budapest united to reconstruct Angyal István Park. Great emphasis has been placed on safeguarding biodiversity. To make the vegetation of the park partly self-sufficient in the long run, the designers of the park chose native or acclimatized, drought-tolerant plants that thrive in urban conditions.
Angyal István Park is being bio-diversified and modernized mindful of the challenges that a modern city faces. With its new space elements and dynamic look, the park will become greener and more modern. Free WiFi coverage will turn it into a genuine 21st century community space.
“We believe that programs like Swedish Sustainability, aimed at improving the quality of life and saving the historical wealth of the city, should expand continuously. We are very proud to be a part of this project and are looking forward to participating in future initiatives”, says György Nagy, Country Manager at Sigma Technology Hungary. “The park official opening is planned for 3rd of October. We welcome everybody to come and enjoy the end of the week in a nice place – the newly reconstructed Angyal István Park.”
