Sigma Backs WiTech IT Network on Kickstarter

Press release -

Sigma Backs WiTech IT Network on Kickstarter

Sigma Technology becomes a gold sponsor for the first female IT Network in Växjö/Kalmar, WiTech IT Network. The network has recently started a Kickstarter project and aims to raise 70 000 SEK to develop a platform for women in IT to network, share knowledge, and build female role models.

The story of WiTech began last year, when Natasha Asimiadis, Information Engineer at Sigma Technology, and Diana Unander, Research and Project Coordinator at Linnaeus University, met for a lunch and shared the idea of starting a meeting place for women working in the IT industry and female students pursuing higher technical education.

The first WiTech meeting took place in November and gathered 60 guests. Today, the network unites members from over 30 different companies in the region, higher education establishments, students, and representatives from different municipalities. The network was mentioned in the Swedish Radio Program P4 Kronoberg and featured in VXONews, Magazinet, and Smålandsposten.

WiTech has an objective to create a meeting place for women to network, contribute to the knowledge exchange and development of competence, and inspire next generations of girls to choose IT. At the end of March, WiTech launched a Kickstarter project to get support in the development of the network. The contribution received will be used to arrange meetings for networking and knowledge sharing, create inspirational events and conferences, hold seminars and workshops at local schools, and many more.

Sigma Technology strives to maintain the balanced and diversified work environment, where competence and knowledge are in focus. WiTech’s mission goes in line with the company’s initiatives.

“We feel honored to be the gold sponsor of WiTech. The network raises the questions of a better, more equal and prosperous future. They strive to develop the region and to make the IT industry more attractive for the future talent. We encourage everyone to support WiTech on Kickstarter!” says Carl Vikingsson, CEO at Sigma Technology.

Support WiTech on Kickstarter and help to develop a better society and industry! Back the project
