Sigma Technology Sponsors Star for Life School in South Africa

The Star for Life project aims at preventing the spread of HIV and AIDS among young people in South Africa and Namibia. The program was created in 2005 by Christin and Dan Olofsson, owner of the Sigma Group, and since then has touched the lives of 300 000 young people and their families.

Sigma Technology has taken part in the project as an active partner with its own sponsored school since 2014 and consistently contributes to a sustainable future by supporting innovation and development through education.

On May 15th, the company will celebrate the launch of the partnership between Mmemezi High School, Star for Life and Sigma Technology. The company is going to choose one employee to become a Star for Life ambassador on a voluntary basis. The ambassador will act as a liaison between the school and universities. The volunteer will also be a spokesperson for Star for Life project at Sigma Technology in 2015.

“Our Star for Life ambassador will act as a bridge between Sigma Technology and Mmemezi High School. The visit to South Africa will give an ambassador the opportunity to meet and build relations with students and school personnel,” comments Carl Vikingsson, CEO at Sigma Technology Group and he adds:

We are very excited to be a part of this project, offering amazing prospects for children in South Africa. Sigma Technology pays great attention to ensuring the sustainable future. We closely cooperate with universities through exchange programs, and on a voluntary basis as teachers. Sigma Technology also sponsors the most promising students, enabling them to access higher education.”

“We highly appreciate the support from Sigma Technology for the benefit of young people in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Currently Star for Life program covers over 67 schools in South Africa, and we believe that joint efforts with businesses will help us to create fairer and more sustainable societies,” says Per Strand, Executive Director of Star for Life office in Hluhluwe.
