Sigma Technology sponsors Gran Prize 2016 Award Ceremony

The Gran Prize is an annual prize awarded for outstandingly innovative solutions, papers, and projects in response to the most pressing issues of our planet, in the field of environmental protection, sustainable development, design, medicine, health preservation and development, and education. It was established by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hungary in 2012, and its prestige has increased ever since.

Some prizes bring world fame to its winners, others come with a large sum of money – the Gran Prize gives recognition of Swedish values (innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility, among others), and strives to give that extra push so often needed to turn a good idea into something great. As Prof. Zoltán Noszticzius, winner of Gran Prize 2015 with his revolutionary new disinfectant Solumium, puts it:

“The Solumium story started just 10 years ago when we discovered with my co-inventors a method of producing hyperpure chlorine dioxide solutions. Regarding all these achievements one would think that ours was a success story from the early beginning. But that is not true. While we were really successful in science, in technical applications and most importantly in healing people, we were not very successful in business. The Gran Prize changed that fundamentally. This is because a Swedish Prize is generally recognized by the people as a prize given for a Scandinavian quality. Thus the prize, together with the media interest generated, helped us enormously. While the life for a small company like ours is always troubled and there is still a long road ahead of us, we believe that we could get through a ‘critical point’ of our development with the help of the award. We express our sincere thanks again to the Gran Prize founders and supporters for their recognition.”

The Gran Prize 2016 Award Ceremony will take place on May 26, in the presence of H.E. Niclas Trouvé, Ambassador of Sweden. The event will be sponsored by Sigma and Ericsson.
