Sigma enters partnership with Microsoft on CityNext

CityNext is a global initiative for helping cities, businesses and residents to work proactively in taking the next step in urban development. For the first time in history, more than 50 percent of the world's population is living in cities, and this figure will rise to nearly 70 percent by 2050.

This ongoing process is creating new opportunities but also intensifying problems, such as aging infrastructure, public health and safety risks, pollution, crime and traffic.

With the CityNext initiative, Microsoft and Sigma will be helping leaders to renew with less by combining the power of technology with innovative ideas for connecting cities, public agencies, municipalities, businesses and residents with the city's services, which increases efficiency, reduces costs, promotes a more sustainable environment and makes the cities more attractive places for
people to live.

“We are really looking forward to our collaboration with Sigma as a CityNext partner,” says Crister Molander, responsible for business development and CityNext for the public sector at Microsoft Sweden. “As a part of our partner community, Sigma complements and plays an important role in our goal of working together in utilizing innovation and modern technology to help the public sector to successfully meet their challenges both today and in the future.”

“We're very pleased to be participating in Microsoft CityNext and to further demonstrate our commitment to helping cities of all sizes to renew and modernize for the future,” says David Österlindh, Head of Sales, Region South, Sigma IT & Management Sweden AB. “By combining wireless sensors with modern IT solutions we have a unique concept for the global market, which is reflected in the many discussions we have underway with cities all over the world.”
